What it is

The Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner is a lightweight, water-based K-beauty toner built around deep-sea water drawn from 1,025 meters below the surface near Korea's Dokdo Island. That mineral-rich base is paired with skin-calming and hydrating actives to balance and prep the complexion after cleansing. At 6.76 fl oz, the bottle is generously sized for a product meant to be used daily.

Who it's for

This toner works best for oily, combination, and acne-prone skin types that need hydration without heaviness. Because it addresses dehydration and excess oil simultaneously, it's particularly useful if your skin swings between tight and shiny throughout the day. Sensitive skin that reacts to alcohol-heavy toners often tolerates it well. Those with very dry skin may find they need a richer hydrating layer on top. It is not a treatment toner with exfoliating acids, so anyone looking for a resurfacing step should look elsewhere.

How to use it

Apply after cleansing and any pH-dependent actives (such as vitamin C or AHAs), and before serums and moisturizers. Dispense a moderate amount onto clean palms or a cotton pad and press gently into the skin rather than wiping, which preserves hydration and limits irritation. Use morning and evening. Because the texture is thin and fast-absorbing, it can also be layered two to three times using the Korean 7 Skin Method for a deeper hydration boost on dry days.

Key ingredients

The ingredient list is anchored by deep-sea water, which supplies trace minerals that can help support the skin's barrier and ionic balance. Heartleaf extract (Houttuynia cordata) is a well-established anti-inflammatory botanical commonly found in Korean formulations targeting redness and breakouts. Niacinamide contributes to sebum regulation and pore appearance over consistent use, making it relevant for the oily-skin and acne concerns this toner addresses. Sodium hyaluronate, a low-molecular form of hyaluronic acid, draws moisture into the upper layers of the skin and helps the formula feel comfortable rather than stripping. Together these actives cover hydration, calming, and mild oil balance without relying on harsh astringents.

Pros & cons

  • Lightweight, fast-absorbing texture that layers easily under other products
  • Addresses multiple concerns — hydration, breakouts, and oiliness — in one step
  • Generous bottle size relative to many K-beauty toners
  • Well-reviewed with a 4.6/5 rating across more than 1,700 shoppers, suggesting reliable consistency
  • Free from heavy fragrance, making it accessible for reactive skin
  • Not a standalone solution for moderate-to-severe acne; active breakouts typically need a targeted treatment alongside it
  • Very dry skin types may find the hydration insufficient on its own and will need a heavier moisturizer
  • The mineral and botanical focus means fewer dramatic short-term results compared to exfoliating or retinoid-based toners
  • Deep-sea water as a marquee ingredient has limited independent clinical research; the supporting cast of niacinamide and heartleaf does most of the evidence-backed work

How it compares

If your primary concern is barrier repair and intense hydration rather than oil control, the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence offers a thicker, occlusive texture built around snail secretion filtrate — a better pick for compromised or post-procedure skin that needs more than a watery toner can deliver. For shoppers dealing with active breakouts, the Dokdo Toner works well as a prep step, but pairing it with a dedicated spot treatment like the COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch covers the bases the toner cannot on its own. The Round Lab toner occupies a useful middle ground: more targeted than plain micellar water, less aggressive than an exfoliating toner.

The verdict

The Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner earns its place in a routine for oily-to-combination skin that breaks out and gets dehydrated at the same time — a combination that trips up many single-purpose products. The mineral water base is a marketing hook more than a clinically proven feature, but the supporting ingredients — niacinamide, heartleaf, sodium hyaluronate — are legitimate workhorses backed by cosmetic research. It won't replace a dedicated acne treatment or a rich moisturizer, and it won't transform severely dry skin. What it does reliably is balance, calm, and hydrate in a single lightweight layer, which is exactly what a daily toner should do. The strong shopper ratings across a large sample suggest the formula performs consistently rather than working only for a narrow skin type.

What shoppers say

★ 4.6average from 1.7k ratings on Amazon

Shoppers with combination, oily, and sensitive skin appreciate how weightless this toner feels — it absorbs quickly without any tackiness and leaves skin noticeably softer and more prepped for serums. Several users report it layers well with actives and doesn't trigger breakouts, even for rosacea-prone skin.

A recurring caveat is that oil control is modest at best; people with very oily skin often find shine returns within a few hours. A handful of reviewers also felt the toner's effect was subtle and hard to detect, making it a better fit for those who want gentle hydration than visible pore-tightening results.

Perfect for Combination Skin - Hydrating and Balancing!

I have combination skin — oily in the T-zone and dry on the cheeks — and finding a toner that works for my skin has been a challenge. The Round Lab Dokdo Toner completely exceeded my expectations! It’s lightweight and absorbs immediately, leaving no greasy or sticky feeling. It hydrates my dry areas while helping to control excess oil throughout the day. My skin feels refreshed, calm, and well-balanced after every use. I am a teenager and this product did not break me out at all. After a couple of weeks, I noticed my skin texture improving and less redness. It doesn’t clog pores or irritate sensitive spots, and I like that it’s fragrance-free and full of soothing ingredients. If you have combination skin and are looking for a toner that actually works without overwhelming your skin, THIS IS 100% WORTH TRYING. Will definitely repurchase! Plus, the size is great value for the money!

Lovely toner.

This is my favorite skincare product to use right after double cleansing my face. It's simple, effective, and hydrating, and my skin loves it. Makes my skin feel super soft and ready for further skincare. Recently I decided to get a fine mist spray bottle to better use this toner. It makes it much easier not to waste any product because its consistency is very watery, and using my hands or soaking a cotton round was using up too much of it, either from it running down my arms, or spilling it, or from the cotton soaking up too much. It works wonderfully in spray form! I wish Round Lab would sell a spray nozzle attachment for their toner, like some other brands have been doing for their own watery products, so I can eliminate the need to decant it myself.

Very good?

Oily, mature, mild rosacea skin. Feels slightly thicker than water, but no other discernable texture to it. I wasn't sure it was doing anything, but with my nighttime topicals it appears to be reducing my oil somewhat throughout the day and is certainly not causing any breakouts. It's so far the least harmful toner I've used and since I'm using it in tandem with the lotion, I'm not sure which deserves the credit. No harm to highly sensitive skin here, so give it a try.

Decent toner

Decent toner. Oil control I would say it ok not great but your mileage may vary. I do feel like it helps but with my skin I feel like a few hours later my skin is oily again. I do use face moisturizer after using this product so It could just be my skin but idk.

ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Toner 6.76 fl oz Korean Skin Care: frequently asked questions

What is Round Lab Dokdo toner good for?

The 1025 Dokdo Toner is a hydrating essence-toner built around deep sea water from Korea's Dokdo Island, calibrated to match skin's natural salinity (1.025%). It layers in moisture, helps balance oil production, and supports a calmer complexion — making it well-suited for acne-prone and dehydrated skin.

It is not an exfoliating toner, so it won't directly unclog pores the way an AHA or BHA would. Think of it as a hydration and barrier-prep step, not a treatment toner.

How do you apply Dokdo toner?

After cleansing, dispense a few drops into your palm and press gently into slightly damp skin — applying while skin is still moist helps lock in hydration. Follow with your serum and moisturizer.

For a hydration boost, you can layer 2–3 applications before moving on (a common K-beauty technique). Hands minimize product waste better than a cotton pad for a watery toner like this.

Is Round Lab Dokdo toner pore clogging?

The Dokdo Toner is widely considered non-comedogenic and is frequently cited as safe for fungal acne (malassezia). It avoids heavy oils and occlusive ingredients that tend to trigger breakouts, which is a large part of its appeal for acne-prone and oily skin types.

That said, individual skin is unpredictable — a patch test on your jaw or inner arm is always a smart first step with any new product.

Can I use Round Lab Dokdo toner every day?

Yes — it's formulated for twice-daily use, morning and evening. The Dokdo Toner contains no exfoliating acids, so there's no need to cycle it or take precautions around sun sensitivity.

Most users find consistent daily use is when they see the clearest improvement in hydration levels and overall skin texture. Starting once a day is fine if your skin is on the reactive side.

Is the Dokdo toner or a centella toner the better pick?

They solve different problems. Centella-based toners focus primarily on soothing redness, calming inflammation, and repairing a compromised skin barrier. The Dokdo Toner centers on mineral-rich deep-sea-water hydration alongside mild oil balance.

If persistent redness or a damaged barrier is your main concern, a cica toner may edge it out. If you're dealing with dehydration and occasional breakouts together, Dokdo is typically the stronger fit for that combination.

Do you put toner or moisturizer on first?

Toner always comes before moisturizer. A standard K-beauty layering order runs: cleanse → toner → serum or essence → moisturizer. Apply the Dokdo Toner on slightly damp skin so subsequent layers absorb more effectively.

Seal everything in with a moisturizer at the end — something like the COSRX Snail Mucin 92% Face Moisturizer layers well after a lightweight hydrating toner routine.

Is Round Lab a trustworthy Korean skincare brand?

Round Lab has earned a solid reputation in the K-beauty community for straightforward, ingredient-focused formulations that keep known irritants to a minimum. The brand is transparent about its hero ingredients and has performed consistently well in reviews from sensitive-skin users in the US and abroad.

It sits in the accessible mid-range of K-beauty — not a budget dupe, but not a luxury line — and the Dokdo range is its most recognized product family.
