What it is
Revlon Kiss Tinted Lip Balm SPF 20 in Berry Burst is a sheer, berry-toned tinted balm that combines a hint of color with everyday moisture and built-in broad-spectrum sun protection. The formula sits in the makeup category but functions as much as a lip-care step as a cosmetic one, making it the kind of product that earns a permanent spot in a bag or coat pocket. The 0.09 oz twist-up stick applies cleanly without a brush or mirror.
Who it's for
This balm suits anyone who wants low-maintenance lip color without committing to a full lipstick. It works particularly well for people managing dryness and dehydration on the lips, since the balm base delivers a conditioning layer with each swipe. Berry Burst reads as a universally flattering cool-pink tone that translates differently across skin tones — sheer on deeper complexions, more visible on fair to medium skin.
Skip it if you need opaque or long-wearing coverage, if you are sensitive to fragranced cosmetics, or if you require SPF 30 or higher for extended outdoor activity. SPF 20 is adequate for incidental daily exposure but is not a substitute for dedicated lip sunscreen during prolonged sun exposure.
How to use it
Apply directly to bare lips or over a lip liner as the final step in your makeup routine. Swipe once for a sheer wash of color and reapply as needed throughout the day for hydration. Because it is a balm formula, it can also be worn alone on no-makeup days to keep lips comfortable. There is no cure time required — blot or leave it as-is depending on preferred finish. Reapplication every two hours matters when you are relying on the SPF outdoors, just as it does with any sun-protection product.
Key ingredients
The specific full ingredient list for this product was not available in our data at the time of review, but tinted SPF lip balms in this category are typically built on an emollient wax and oil base — ingredients like carnauba wax, beeswax, or synthetic esters that create a smooth, conditioning film over the lip surface. UV protection at SPF 20 is delivered through chemical UV filters such as octinoxate or oxybenzone, or mineral filters like titanium dioxide, depending on the formulation. Pigments provide the sheer berry tone without the opacity of a traditional lipstick. Together these components address dry, chapped lips by forming an occlusive layer that slows moisture loss.
Pros & cons
- Three-in-one convenience: tint, moisture, and SPF in a single step
- Well-reviewed at scale: 4.6 out of 5 stars across more than 16,700 ratings is a meaningful signal of consistent satisfaction
- Portable format: the small twist-up stick fits easily in a pocket or small bag
- Accessible sheer color: the berry tone is wearable for multiple skin tones without requiring precision application
- Limited coverage: the sheer pigment will not satisfy shoppers wanting defined or opaque lip color
- Modest SPF level: SPF 20 is appropriate for daily, incidental exposure but falls short of the SPF 30 minimum recommended by dermatologists for deliberate sun exposure
- Small size: 0.09 oz runs out quickly with frequent reapplication
- Ingredient transparency: full formulation details are not always readily available, which can be a concern for those avoiding specific filters or fragrance
How it compares
If you want a single product that adds color to more than just your lips, consider the e.l.f. Monochromatic Multi Stick in Sparkling Rose, a cream-to-powder formula designed for lips, cheeks, and eyes in one stick. It offers more coverage and versatility than the Revlon balm but does not include SPF, making it a different trade-off rather than a direct upgrade. The Revlon Kiss balm wins on sun protection and conditioning; the e.l.f. Multi Stick wins on pigment payoff and multi-use application.
The verdict
Revlon Kiss Tinted Lip Balm SPF 20 in Berry Burst is a sensible daily-wear choice for anyone who finds full lipstick too heavy or high-maintenance but still wants some color and lip care built into their routine. The combination of hydration and SPF in a portable stick format is genuinely useful, and the strong rating across a large review base suggests real-world satisfaction rather than novelty. Its limitations are honest ones: this is a sheer balm, not a lipstick, and SPF 20 requires reapplication discipline outdoors. For light-touch makeup days when you want your lips to look healthy, moisturized, and subtly tinted without extra steps, this delivers exactly what it promises.
What shoppers say
Shoppers consistently praise this tinted balm for its comfortable, non-sticky wear and genuine moisturizing effect—particularly welcome in dry winter months. The subtle, wearable color and pleasant fruity fragrance are recurring highlights, and several reviewers with sensitivities note it works well for them.
The main caveat is longevity: most buyers find the tint fades quickly and requires frequent reapplication throughout the day. A handful also feel the color payoff is too sheer to satisfy anyone wanting noticeable pigment. Those prioritizing all-day color or bold tint may prefer a traditional lipstick instead.
First time trying this lippie. My lips have been dry this winter already and I wanted something that won’t emphasize that but still give me some color. I’m liking this right now more than my go to matte lipsticks. It feels nice and moisturizing and is easy to use. Pic is BERRY BURST. You’ll need to reapply throughout the day but that’s true for most lip products unless you get the heavy duty stay-put ones (which I do not like because of how they wear unevenly and are usually drying). The price is right. Revlon knows what they are doing when comes to lip products and this lives up to the quality I already know and love. You can’t go wrong. The color is universal and would go with a ton of different makeup looks. I’ll keep this one in my purse for sure. Go for it.
Read on Amazon ↗I love how moisturizing this is and how good it feels when applied. It has a yummy scent, but unfortunately there isn’t much of a tint. It also doesn’t last long and I find myself reapplying frequently. I probably won’t buy again
Read on Amazon ↗Exactly what I was looking for. Good size, a little longer than a chapstick. Smooth, great color (strawberry) smells great.
Read on Amazon ↗Goes on easy, great color blends, not sticky, moisturizing, great smell, absolutely love these. I have some extreme allergies and I don't have many options for lip gloss or color but I have no issue with these at all so far. The only negative is it doesn't last long but great reason to reapply.
Read on Amazon ↗I bought the Revlon Kiss Balm Sweet Cherry, and it exceeded my expectations. It has a delicious cherry scent that isn’t overpowering and leaves a very natural, flattering hint of color on the lips. What I liked most is that it deeply moisturizes and keeps my lips soft for hours without feeling sticky. The stick format is convenient to carry in your purse and apply anytime. Plus, it glides on easily and leaves a healthy, glossy finish. Since I’ve been using it, my lips feel more hydrated and look better. I would definitely buy it again and recommend it to anyone looking for a moisturizing balm with a hint of color and a delicious scent. Excellent value for the price!
