What it is
Tree of Life's Niacinamide Serum combines three well-studied skincare actives — niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E — in a lightweight, water-based formula. It targets the overlapping concerns of uneven tone, enlarged-looking pores, and surface dehydration in a single step. With over 143,000 ratings averaging 4.4 out of 5, it has earned a broad and vocal following among everyday skincare users.
Who it's for
This serum suits a wide range of skin types, but it was clearly formulated with oily and combination skin in mind. Niacinamide helps regulate sebum production and minimizes the appearance of pores, while hyaluronic acid delivers hydration without heaviness — a combination that oily-skin types often struggle to find. People dealing with post-acne marks, dullness, or blotchy tone are also good candidates, since niacinamide is one of the few ingredients with solid evidence behind its brightening and barrier-supporting effects.
Dry skin types can use it, but should layer a richer moisturizer on top. People with a known sensitivity to niacinamide — which is uncommon but real — should patch-test before committing. This is not a treatment-strength serum for advanced hyperpigmentation or deep wrinkles; if those are your primary concerns, you may need something more targeted alongside it.
How to use it
Apply the serum to clean, slightly damp skin, after cleansing and toning but before moisturizer and SPF. A few drops are enough to cover the full face and neck. Niacinamide is generally well-tolerated and can be used morning and evening; if you are introducing it into a new routine, starting once daily lets your skin adjust before going twice-daily. Because niacinamide is pH-flexible and plays well with most other actives — including retinoids and AHAs — it does not require special timing relative to your other steps.
Key ingredients
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is the headline active here. It works across several pathways at once: it helps reduce the transfer of melanin to skin cells, which gradually fades dark spots and evens tone; it supports the lipid barrier, which improves moisture retention and reduces sensitivity; and it has been shown to visibly reduce pore appearance over consistent use, likely by regulating sebum and improving skin texture.
Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant — it draws water into the upper layers of skin from the environment and from deeper tissue. The result is a plumper, smoother surface with less noticeable fine lines caused by dehydration. It works best in humid conditions or when applied to damp skin, and it should always be sealed in with a moisturizer.
Vitamin E (Tocopherol) functions primarily as an antioxidant and skin-conditioning agent. It helps neutralize free radicals that contribute to premature aging, and it supports barrier integrity. Its inclusion here helps stabilize the formula and adds a mild emollient quality.
Pros & cons
- Niacinamide at a meaningful concentration addresses pores, tone, and barrier in one step
- Lightweight texture layers easily under moisturizer and SPF without pilling
- Hyaluronic acid provides surface hydration without greasiness
- Exceptionally high review count suggests reliable, consistent results across a large user base
- Fragrance-free formulation reduces irritation risk for sensitive skin
- Vitamin E concentration is not disclosed; its antioxidant benefit may be secondary to the other actives
- Not a standalone solution for significant hyperpigmentation — results require patience and consistency
- Hyaluronic acid can draw moisture out of skin in very dry climates if not sealed with an occlusive layer
- The formula does not include vitamin C, so brightening results are more gradual than a combined niacinamide-plus-vitamin-C approach
How it compares
If brightening is your top priority over pore control, the TruSkin Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin E takes a different route, leading with ascorbic acid for more direct melanin inhibition — though vitamin C requires more careful storage and can be harder to layer with actives like retinol.
If you already use niacinamide elsewhere in your routine and want to double down on hydration specifically, the Tree of Life Hyaluronic Acid Serum from the same brand focuses on humectant delivery without the additional actives, which may suit very dry or barrier-compromised skin that needs straightforward moisture rather than multi-tasking treatment.
The verdict
Tree of Life's Niacinamide Serum is a well-composed, low-fuss option for anyone who wants one serum to address oiliness, mild discoloration, and dehydration simultaneously. Its ingredient combination is grounded in evidence rather than trend, and the barrier-supporting combination of niacinamide and hyaluronic acid makes it suitable for regular, long-term use. It will not replace a dedicated brightening serum if advanced hyperpigmentation is your concern, but as a daily maintenance step that earns its place on a crowded bathroom shelf, it delivers on what it promises.
What shoppers say
Shoppers consistently praise this serum for its featherlight texture that sinks in fast without any tackiness or residue. Regular users report noticeably smoother, more even-toned skin over time, with several highlighting improved firmness and a visible reduction in redness and blotchiness after consistent nightly use.
The main caveat echoed across reviews is that meaningful results require patience—weeks of daily use, not days. The sample of reviews skews very positive, so shoppers who are sensitive to niacinamide or expect rapid transformation may want to set realistic expectations before committing.
Okay - I do not leave reviews unless I honestly love a product/products, and I know it can be hard to know (on Amazon) these days who’s a REAL customer & who isn’t. I’m real, folks! I paid full price and received nothing for free, so please hear what I’m saying about these products. We are in the fight for beautiful, younger, fresher skin together! I bought these 3 serums and have used them for the past week (since receiving my shipment quickly...within 24 hrs) and WOW! When my husband said,”Oh my God! No joke babe, your skin looks younger - YOU look younger...” and he was right! Usually would take weeks to see a difference, but let me tell you, this was immediate. I also purchased a derma roller to use with the serums a few days a week. I’ll explain below! I’m about to turn 43 years old & my skin has/had become “ruddy”, red, splotchy, uneven texture, some hyper-pigmentation (i.e. age spots) with dry patches and then a super-oily t-zone - ahhhhhh!! Then, there are the lovely fine lines & wrinkles that were developing around my mouth, forehead, and between brows as well. If you’re over 40, you know what I’m saying.. Okay, so I also bought a derma roller to use as well. I also use Zinc bar soap for my daily face wash - and I had been out of my Zinc soap for a couple of months, which is no bueno for my skin. Zinc soap is great for redness, rosacea, flakiness around nose and eyebrows (which you may think is dry skin, but it’s actually flakes produced from excessive oil in those areas....so it helps that PLUS helps with my redness in other areas on my face, AND doesn’t dry my skin out...so I highly recommend a Zinc soap if any of you gals are dealing with what looks like dry flakes in/around eyebrows and nose! Get the Zinc soap! It’s about $8-$10 on Amazon). So, in the a.m., day #1, washed with Zinc Soap, rinsed with warm water (not hot), then got my derma roller out (it has tiny little needles on it, so NOT the jade roller, but a derma roller- WITH needles), washed it with rubbing alcohol first to sterilize, then held my skin taught and rolled up & down my face vertically (whole face...lips too - and make a face to stretch your lips taught, otherwise it won’t work on the lips 👄), then went back over my entire face horizontally (I watched several videos on how to safely use the derma roller, so please watch some videos so that you don’t overdo it), my face was a little red, but it did not hurt at all. It creates tiny little “holes” (or little “traumas” if you will) that your body will send collagen to fix, thus forcing collagen into those areas to repair and rejuvenate- GENIUS! So, THEN you go and put those 3 serums on right over the freshly derma rolled skin, and BOOM! My skin LITERALLY plumped up before my eyes! I put vitamin C on first, then use the cool setting on my blowdryer to blow it dry a bit, then I do the retinol serum, then cool dry a bit to allow it to absorb, then I put the last serum on after that and let it sink in. That evening I washed my face with Zinc soap before bed and then use Tree Of Life Moisturizer Cream with retinol and hyarulonic acid afterward and sleep with that stuff on. A little goes a long way with Tree of Life serums and mousturizers too, so don’t feel like you have to slather it on. You don’t! I put my makeup on right over the top of the serums (I wait about 30 min before applying makeup, just to allow the serums to soak in. I allow 1 to 2 days between derma rolling, and just do my zinc soap for face wash and then I apply the serums as usual, without the derma roller on the “in-between-derma-rolling-days”. My fine lines are definitely less noticeable and the places with hyper pigmentation have faded out quite a bit (not entirely- but dude, it’s been literally like 6 days...so IMAGINE what my skin will look like in a month?!). Also, my skin texture is absolutely smoother and the color is SO much more even already. Let me be clear though, my skin is totally red after I apply the serums...and then it calms. It doesn’t hurt whatsoever, but initially I am red right after applying. Especially after derma rolling and applying - expect immediate redness and then it will go away. I’ve used a lot of serums, and these 3 are the best I’ve found! Purchase them! Be diligent and apply daily - there is NO WAY that you aren’t going to see improvement in your skin! Younger, softer, smoother skin is here. Awesome job, Tree of Life!
Read on Amazon ↗I often tend to only give 1-4 stars with new products because having been in healthcare for 17 years, I KNOW there is NO miracle overnight-Fix! So it’s important (at least to me) to always be honest. That said, when I read reviews myself, I often zoom in on the “unsatisfied” reviews- 1st. —Why? Because 8/10 times the comments are based on “Immediate reactions.” We must remember that our “SKIN” is the largest organ in our body. It has a TON of responsibilities. So we must “Help” by not just “Topical” care, but equally important- Start within. (My rule of thumb is think of our Skin exactly like a Garden of Planted Flowers. What’s first? Yes, Water.. Nutrients.. the better we continue caring (watering/feeding) our Flowers... the better they Bloom! Skin is NO DIFFERENT. Even if a Flower blossoms overnight (rare, but “it happens) we still need to care for it in order for it to remain beautiful. I’m VERY picky when it comes to my Skin. I’m turning 47 next week, Mom of 3 (and a Grandma:) I still recall childhood of my sneaking into my Mom’s Med Cabinet to find the (most notorious “Oil of Olay.” Point: I started young. I found TOLB a couple years ago. I had Stopped for a bit (convincing myself of the hype over Designer labels) on skincare. (If a Par of jeans look fabulous on us— Do we REALLY care of the label or cost?) I don’t! I often then look at the other 50 pairs of $100+ Jeans in my closet and think I’m an idiot. So let’s go back to the Garden.. a LOT of factors go in too gorgeous field of Flowers. We can/better, water it daily but what else is mandatory? Yep, Sunliigt (Vit C) and of course nutrition. I won’t lie, I am A Product Junkie (I suppose I could be addicted to worse..) I saw Comments here of certain products being “Watery” or “its not a serum” and so on— It’s simply NOT TRUE. (Can you imagine layering 5 Thick serums + Moisturizing + SPF? 😳 yeah, me either! I’m a HUGE fan of the fact Vit C is one of our most liquified serums. (Kind of like an Essence is, we should “PRESS IT INTO OUR SKIN” not rub. (I presume we all follow the staple rule of “Thin to Thick” when we later products?) so TOLB is an EXCELLENT product in my opinion. Having stopped once, then resuming (that’s how we often realize “challenge/error” (why did I stop NHM HMM!) At least that’s how I built My Arsenal of skin care. TOLB has stood the test against my $100 labels (which need I explain “Marketing?”) They’re on TV, Famous people are the spokesmodels, etc) so it MUST work— WRONG! Don’t get me wrong, My bathroom has its own closet sized Dept. Store of those products) I often assumed “More expensive- it has to work) mantra. (Staring at a covergirl using a designer “magic serum” — yeah, I got Fooled too!) Again, simply NOT true. And Tryst me, Im the “go to girl” with my friends for my “new finds” always looking for the next new product that actually works— TOLB is one line I can support by my own proven comparisons) I’m “THAT Girl” who lines hers up (Day/Night) and seldom skip a beat. I look Forward to caring for my facial skin (it IS often the 1st thing we see when we look at another. - We don’t talk to their knees!) so why not make it a Priority? Now, “My Routine” is not for the faint of heart :) after my showers - while I’m getting ready is how I begin My layering. (Most often during hair products, blow drying, etc) so there is NO RUSH and each have time to “Do their Job!” I’ll share my arsenal but it’s only because TOLB is so far the only line that most all can afford. (Exfoliating is my last step in my shower.) I keep My jar of daily exfoliant and my Large pump bottle of Coconut oil in my shower) I exfoliate my body there, so why not my face? This way, once out and dried.. the “Stage” is set. I begin: (Face wash, Tone - Anyone who does not TONE - do it now!) such an easy swipe of quick drying - pallet preparing greatness. (Seriously, stop reading, go Tone!) I don’t know about you but I’m not wasting products on a old skin cell canvas, are you? (Preparing the soil- Water, Raking, etc) Next (my Absolute Must) “ESSENCE.” Yeah, she’s not that new.. but more often than not she’s forgotten. Essence is the Gardener. She’s in charge! Without Essence (Pressing into skin/Do NOT RUB and DO NOT WASTE ON COTTON PAD) Infact, the ONLY Colton pad Swipe you should ever use is Toner. Otherwise, no explanation needed- Wasteful! So while I’m preparing my hair for blow dry (yes, there are layering products in hair regimen too) my skin is drinking up.. while sitting in the Sunshine (Vit C that has been pressed into my face.) Rookies: (smile) Place few drops in one palm and use 2 fingers opposite hand and dip/dab into all regions of your face (check/chin/forehead etc) then go back and LIGHTLY spread) now using 2 fingers of each hand, gently pressing into face. I end By a little extra TLC on any bullies on my playground (age/sun spots) they gotta go! Now it’s time for my Treatment serums. These most likely are now becoming “serum like” why? - They have a bigger responsibility. Another Absolute MUST is choosing a serum or Serum (S) that Target the needs we feel are our most bothersome. (We’re all different!) but I don’t agree, just my opinion) with time of year- change my routine) Even if I’m not physically tending to my flowerbed.. Mother Nature is— (so she doesn’t have time to do my job!) For me, I have a few serums. I start with Peptides (vitamins) then age prevention! (Your choice) — then once I’m done blow drying (Or styling if not a blow dry day) That’s plenty of time for all the team to have completed their job. But Nope- I’m not done. -Next, HA. Think of HA as a “LOCK” (in the “Lock & Load) HA is really just a Serum Moisturizer. (Supervisor in the Garden) Once she’s on Duty. The rest can go. She’ll report too— The Manager (Moisturizer & SPF!) I dont use separately UNLESS I’m going to be out and about all day (Yes, we need SPF regardless if Sunny) I just use a “Transformation Moisture Day Cream” that INCLUDES SPF- nothing less than 15-20!) but if I’m actual Sunlight nothing less than 30+ and THAT will be a 2nd layer OVER my TMDC! (Now is it more understandable that all serums/treatments have different textures?) One step I didnt add.. I’m the lucky one who fights Cystic Acne in my 40’s (I agree, what the heck?!) THOSE DARN PESTS! So if Bad, I treat At Night & Spot Treat (AFTER VIT C!) But Night Regime (esp Retinol & AH take charge.) But if I even Look At a Jellybean- Boom!) and that Stinks because they’re my Weakness (oh and Cheese grrrr) But I’m not about to give up either (a girl needs a little fun!) so my skin care just has more work to do at times. —- So once all of the garden is Prepped for the day— if makeup (I myself believe in a Kabuki/Mineral (non liquid) application) I think The only “soft liquid” I apply in regards to makeup is Primer and Lipgloss. The rest (even contours) are with powder. Lord Knows I spent enough time on my skin care- Garden is well hydrated! Clearly, I got carried Away writing but it’s important I share What I know. Always in hope I read “Only honest” reviews too. Moral of my story: It’s a Process, it’s Not over night and It’s DEFINITELY NOT a one Wo/man Team! (PS- I didnt add Eyecream because if your not already well aware of the MUST HAVE in Eye cream.. We have a LOT more work to do!) But Eye Cream is a Treatment so should be applied after Essence (it also works as a barrier to help avoid other products from getting in our eyes) I won’t bore you with my Tea, Herb, Vitamin & Night regime but it’s a FT job. And TOLB is an EXCELLENT line in my opinion so we can all afford Quality but it’s up to us to hire the staff and be sure, as with any new role, we allow a 90 day probationary period. However, if anyone finds the Overnight Fountain of Youth—- I’m ALL EARS 🌸

Tree of Life Niacinamide Serum with Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin E: frequently asked questions
What is the Tree of Life Niacinamide Serum and what does it do?
This lightweight serum combines niacinamide with hyaluronic acid and vitamin E to tackle several concerns at once. Niacinamide targets the look of enlarged pores, uneven tone, and excess oil; hyaluronic acid pulls moisture into the skin; and vitamin E lends antioxidant support to the barrier. It's designed for daily use on the face and neck as a mid-routine treatment step.
Who should use the Tree of Life Niacinamide Serum?
It suits anyone dealing with dullness, visible pores, oiliness, or mild dehydration — making it a practical pick for combination and oily skin types especially. Drier skin types can use it too but will likely want a richer moisturizer on top. It's not formulated to treat active breakouts or deep lines, so keep expectations appropriately focused on tone, texture, and hydration.
Can I use niacinamide with hyaluronic acid and vitamin E?
Yes — this is one of the more complementary ingredient combinations in skincare. Hyaluronic acid hydrates, niacinamide refines pores and evens tone, and vitamin E provides antioxidant support; none of the three interfere with the others. The Tree of Life formula combines all three in a single serum, so there's no need to layer separate products or worry about interaction.
Can I use niacinamide every day?
Niacinamide is one of the more forgiving actives and is generally well-tolerated at both morning and evening use. It doesn't increase sun sensitivity and rarely causes irritation at standard serum concentrations. If your skin is on the reactive side, starting once daily and working up to twice daily is a sensible approach before committing to a full routine.
What should you never mix niacinamide with?
The pairing that warrants the most caution is high-concentration L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C) used simultaneously — at high doses they can form a compound that temporarily yellows skin. Using vitamin C in the morning and niacinamide at night sidesteps the issue cleanly. Strong exfoliating acids (glycolic, lactic) applied at the exact same time can also reduce niacinamide's efficacy, so stagger those by at least a few minutes.
How long do I need to wait between applying hyaluronic acid and niacinamide?
Since this serum already blends both, no wait time is required. If you're layering it over a dedicated hyaluronic acid product first, a 30-second window is plenty — hyaluronic acid absorbs quickly. The Tree of Life Hyaluronic Acid Serum works well as a first hydrating step before applying this niacinamide formula on top.
What goes first — retinol, niacinamide, or hyaluronic acid?
Follow the thinnest-to-thickest rule: hyaluronic acid first, then this niacinamide serum, then retinol if you use one. Niacinamide actually pairs constructively with retinol — it can help buffer the irritation retinol sometimes causes. Apply the Tree of Life Niacinamide Serum after any water-based hydrating layers and before heavier creams, oils, or SPF.
